Kelsey S. Alama is a dual-board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Family Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience spanning inpatient nursing, community health, and advanced practice. Her broad clinical foundation - from emergency and surgical nursing to family medicine and primary care - informs a deeply integrative approach to psychiatric care, one that considers the whole person, not just the diagnosis.
Kelsey's path to mental health care was a natural evolution shaped by years at the frontlines of medicine. As an inpatient RN at OHSU and beyond, she cared for acutely ill patients and learned early how inseparable physical and emotional wellbeing truly are. As she moved into advanced practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner, she carried that same whole-person lens into outpatient and community settings - serving underserved populations, providing bridge care, and supporting patients in post-acute recovery during some of their most vulnerable moments. It was through this work that she was drawn increasingly toward psychiatric care, completing her PMHNP training at Frontier Nursing University, including six months of clinical preceptorship right here at Kaleidoscope Rx. We are proud to welcome her officially to our team this April 2026!
Kelsey specializes in psychopharmacology and medication management across the lifespan, treating conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and schizophrenia. Her longstanding volunteer work with Portland Street Medicine - bringing healthcare to houseless individuals wherever they are - reflects a deep commitment to accessible, compassionate care. She views psychiatric medication as one part of a broader, collaborative wellness plan, and works alongside her patients to build treatment approaches rooted in evidence, trust, and genuine human connection.
